In addition to the nine league titles, Everton has also won five FA Cups and one European Cup Winners’ Cup. Sadly, the Merseyside club has not won any trophy since the 1995 FA Cup, which has been the longest trophy drought in the club because it has lasted for almost three decades.
Despite substantial financial backing from the club’s rich owner, Everton has faced significant challenges in recent years. Farhad Moshiri took control of the club in 2016 and immediately went on a spending spree that saw the club bring in the likes of Andre Gomes, Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Romelu Lukaku, and Amadou Onana, the investment hasn’t translated into any success for the Toffees. Instead, the club has been battling relegation for the past four years and always surviving in the last few days of the season.
